Shafaq News/ Today, Sunday, the seventh summit for investment and trade between Turkey and Iraq kicked off in the city of Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region.
The Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry indicated a significant decline in the number of Iraqi tourists to Turkey due to the increase in visa fees for those wishing to enter the lands of that country.

In this regard, the Vice-President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Soran Abu Bakr Aziz, said in a speech he delivered during the launch of the summit activities, that there are many Turkish companies operating in Erbil, and we hope that they will start investing in the industrial sector, because the Kurdistan Regional Government seeks to attract investors in the field of industry and agriculture. and tourism, and provide them with the necessary facilities so that they can work in these sectors.
Regarding the agricultural sector, Aziz said, "We have an investment law that provides great facilities for investors and companies that wish to work in the Kurdistan Region."
With regard to tourism, the Vice-President of the Chamber indicated that "many citizens in the Kurdistan Region and the rest of the regions and cities of Iraq go to Turkey for tourism, but recently the Turkish government imposed large fees for granting an entry visa, amounting to approximately $ 160 for anyone who obtains the visa." Which led to a decrease in the tourism movement between Iraq and Turkey because, for example, one family consisting of 5 members, if they want tourism to Turkey, the cost of visas reaches 1000 US dollars.
He emphasized that the increase in entry visa fees leads to the Iraqis going to countries where the visa has been dropped and spending the amount (visa) there, expressing his hope that Turkey will remove those obstacles imposed on tourism with Iraq.
On the volume of trade exchange, Abu Bakr said that Iraq is the fourth country in terms of trade exchange with Turkey.
