Earth News / A member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mahmoud Khoshnaw, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the management of border crossings is joint between the federal government and the governorates that are not organized in a region.
Khoshnaw told Earth News Agency, "There is no such thing as handing over border crossings to draw financial and customs policy. Rather, it is in accordance with Article 110 of the federal authority and exclusive powers of the federal authority in accordance with Article 114, and it is shared between the federal government, the regional government, and the governorates that are not organized in a region."
He added that “the border guards and customs police present in these areas are affiliated with the Federal Ministry of the Interior and their salaries are disbursed by the ministry itself, so the management of border crossings in the regions and governorates that are not organized in a region is shared according to Article 114 of the Constitution and according to the Financial Management Law, 50% of its revenues go back to the treasury.” Federal and the rest for the provinces.
