On Sunday, the Chambers of Commerce laid out a road map to confront the rise in medicines in Diyala and the rest of the Iraqi governorates.
The head of the chambers of commerce in Diyala, Muhammad al-Tamimi, said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that "the level of high drug prices in Diyala and the rest of the governorates currently ranges from 10-15%, which represents a drain on the pockets of 40% of the people, which makes them below the poverty line in general."
He added, "The adoption of what is known as the pharmaceutical dollar, that is, the entry of the government into purchasing medicines at the selling price of the dollar by the Central Bank, will contribute to reducing speculation and reduce the severity of the price increase."
He pointed out that "the entry of government institutions in securing medicines for the private sector has become a necessity in order to reduce prices, which are now burdening the poor and the simple, not only in Diyala, but all governorates without exception."
Medicine prices are witnessing a new rise, with the recent escalation of the exchange rate of the dollar in the parallel markets. finished 255 F.C
