Al-Salami said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “Corruption is no less dangerous than terrorism and has negative repercussions, especially with the looting of public funds in recent years.”
He added, "There are efforts being made by the supervisory bodies, whether the Integrity Commission or the Financial Supervision Bureau, in addition to the Public Prosecution, in order to uncover the hieroglyphs of corruption that has permeated many institutions," pointing out that "300 lawsuits were filed in the Integrity Commission and the rest of the supervisory bodies in order to seriously follow up on corruption files." ".
He pointed out that "some of the files led us to important facts, and the decisions in the end will be in the arena of the Iraqi judiciary," stressing that "it is not possible to move forward in building the state without ending the phenomenon of financial and administrative corruption and exposing its tools."
Iraq suffers from high rates of corruption in its institutions, which has led to the theft of huge sums of money in successive governments.
