Shafaq News/ Kamal Kirkuki, head of the organizational office for Kirkuk and Garmian in the Kurdistan Democratic Party, said on Monday that the decision to reopen the party’s headquarters in Kirkuk is awaiting a decision from the presidency of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
Kirkuk said in a press conference held in Erbil, attended by a Shafaq News Agency correspondent, “After the Federal Court’s decision to allow the party’s headquarters to be opened in Kirkuk, we, in turn, are fully prepared, and awaiting a decision from the presidency of the Democratic Party to open the headquarters again and carry out our duties.”
On Thursday 10/12/2023, the Federal Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq) rejected a lawsuit related to the advanced headquarters in Kirkuk Governorate, and also canceled the state order regarding it, without pleading.
According to a document issued by the Federal Court, received by Shafaq News Agency, the plaintiff, Representative Wasfi Assi Hussein, requested a ruling obliging the first defendant (Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani) to cancel Joint Operations Order No. (843) of 2023 regarding (moving the Kirkuk operations headquarters from His current location and delivery is free of vacancies).
The court ruled to dismiss the plaintiff’s lawsuit (Wasfi Assi), for lack of jurisdiction according to the form in which the lawsuit was filed, and to cancel the state order No. (213\Federal\2023) issued by this court on 9/3/2023.”
On September 3, 2023, the Federal Court suspended the decision of Federal Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to evacuate the advanced headquarters of joint operations in Kirkuk and hand it over to the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
