The community police detachments in the Ministry of Interior announced today, Tuesday, the arrest of 36 cases of electronic blackmail and domestic violence and the return of 7 runaway girls to their families within a week.
A statement from the ministry said, “Community police detachments in the Relations and Media Department of the Ministry of Interior stopped 36 cases of electronic blackmail and domestic violence in various governorates of the country during the last week of this month of October, and in separate operations returned 7 runaway girls to their families.”
The statement added, "This came against the backdrop of appeals to the community police received via its toll-free hotline (497) and the email of its Facebook page from victims, as its detachments dealt with blackmail cases after securing the victims' accounts, deleting the blackmail contents, and taking the necessary measures against the extortionists." It also provided psychological and moral support to victims of violence and escape, pledging to make periodic visits to them in order to determine their conditions and provide them with the necessary support to prevent them from being exposed to violence.
