Barzani: The cessation of the region’s oil exports is “technical,” not political

Baghdad: Al-Sabah:
The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, reported that the cessation of the region’s oil exports caused Iraq to lose $5 billion, indicating that the resumption of oil exports depends on Baghdad.
Barzani said, in a press conference, held after the end of his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, in Paris: “The resumption of oil exports depends on Baghdad,” adding, “I do not say that not resuming oil exports is a political issue, but rather a technical issue.”
He explained that "stopping the export of oil from the Kurdistan region caused Iraq to lose $5 billion," noting that "not exporting oil harms not only the Kurdistan region but all of Iraq."
He expressed the hope that "Baghdad will look at the issue in the same way and find an appropriate solution for it," noting that he "had a good meeting with the French president."
He pointed out that "Macron expressed his readiness to help solve the problems between Erbil and Baghdad," pointing out that "he extended an invitation to the French president to visit the region."
Barzani noted that "there is no excuse left for Baghdad not to send salaries to the Kurdistan region," stressing that "the regional government provided employee data to Baghdad in a transparent manner."
