Employees demand that the federal government hand over their salaries through its banks in Kurdistan

Experts and observers in the region saw that there are “federal” solutions to remedy the economic situation pressing on employees in the Kurdistan region, based on “understandings” that may lead to the export of the region’s oil, at a time when employees are demanding that the federal government disburse their salaries directly from Baghdad via Its official banks in the region.
The expert in energy affairs, Bahjat Ahmed, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “there are several reasons for the lack of agreement between the federal government and the regional government,” noting that “several problems for which the solution has been suspended, including the oil and gas problem until now, and the lack of agreement on legislating a law.” Federal Oil and Gas: “There is no agreement yet on the 2023 budget law.”
Ahmed added, “There are several items, including the actual expenses from the region’s specified share, and this paragraph the region insists on amending so that the salaries of the region’s employees are paid on a monthly and continuous basis and ends the state of anxiety among the employees.”
Meanwhile, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Shirwan Mirza, told “Al-Sabah”: “The Kurdish delegation went to Baghdad recently at the request of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani in response to a message from the Prime Minister of the Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, regarding salaries for the last three months of 2023.”
Mirza explained, "There is political harmony between the federal and regional governments and all parties involved in the federal government, and this opportunity must be taken advantage of to resolve all problems in a way that ensures the integrity of the relationship and its continuation for the better."
In turn, the economic expert, Miran Ahmed, stated that “there is a recent round of negotiations between the Kurdish delegation, the federal government, and the relevant technical committees because there is a real desire to solve the problems,” indicating that “the regional government does not want to lose its control over the process of disbursing salaries and considers this harmful to its entity, and therefore it even “If you agree with Baghdad in many decisions.” Ahmed added that "the issue of budget and salaries requires a real desire from both parties," adding that "the sincere desire is to make concessions by each party, and this matter alone will resolve the crisis. There is no need for delegations to go to Baghdad if the desire is not present and the concessions are present."
The expert in oil and energy affairs, Ghaleb Muhammad, said: “We clearly and explicitly demand that the federal government give the salaries of the region’s employees directly without returning to the regional government, because we know that the money that comes to the region is not disbursed as salaries to the employees,” he said
.
Muhammad stated, in an interview with “Al-Sabah,” that “due to the failure to reach any agreement between the federal government and the region as a result of discussions regarding oil exports, the budget, and non-oil imports,” he pointed out that “everyone demands that the citizen’s livelihood not be involved in political conflicts, and the citizens in the region are Iraqis and have It is a right on the federal government, just as it is a right on the regional government in the rest of the 15 governorates throughout the country.”
