The head of the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers, Omid Sabah, announced on Thursday that the negotiating delegation of the regional government will visit Baghdad soon, and that the procedures for sending an amount of 700 billion dinars have been completed, and the distribution of employee salaries is scheduled to begin soon.
Sabah said in a press conference, “All procedures for sending the amount of 700 billion have been completed, and the distribution of September salaries is scheduled to begin soon.”
He added, "Our talks will continue with the federal government, and soon a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government will head to Baghdad."
Regarding the salaries of the last three months of 2023, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said, “The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, sent a message to Al-Sudani, regarding sending an amount of 700 billion dinars in three installments, and this issue will be the first point of our discussions in Baghdad.”
The spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government, Peshwa Hawramani, confirmed yesterday, Wednesday, that there is a good relationship between the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, and the Federal Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.
He stressed that "the Kurdistan Regional Government is doing everything in its power to enhance the positive mentality and prevent the victory of the negative mentality that affects the emotions and psychological aspects of teachers, employees, and all the people of the region."
He explained that “undermining the constitutional entity of the Kurdistan Region is not in the interest of any party, even those who claimed that as soon as the region delivers its oil to Baghdad, all problems will be addressed, especially employee salaries.”
He pointed out that “after the Kurdistan Regional Government handed over the oil file to Baghdad, the situation remained as it was, while these promoters remained silent regarding Baghdad’s injustice” against the citizens of the region.
He stated that they expect to reach a new agreement with the Iraqi government in the coming days, and for this purpose, the Kurdistan Regional Government requested a loan from Baghdad for another three months, to pay the salaries of the region’s employees and teachers, and that as soon as the 700 billion dinars arrive, it will begin distributing salaries.
