Shafaq News/ Today, Monday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, issued a statement in which he congratulated the Kurdistan Women’s Union on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of their union (Kurdistan Women’s Union).
The text of the statement, seen by Shafaq News Agency, said: “I congratulate all the women of Kurdistan on the seventy-first anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Women’s Union, and I highly appreciate and thank this union’s struggle, sacrifices and struggle to protect women’s rights, freedom and equality, wishing it continued success.”
He added, "The Kurdistan Women's Union, as a pioneering organization in the field of protecting and defending women's rights, played a prominent role in the civil struggle of Kurdistan society during the eras of revolution and freedom."
He added, "In addition to defending women's rights, this union has sponsored hundreds of capable women in all fields and raised many cadres and leaders who have served the nation in all areas of life."
The President of the Region continued, "An open, free and civilly advanced society cannot be achieved without the liberation of women and the guarantee of all their rights. Therefore, on this occasion, I reaffirm my full support for the feminist struggle."
The President of the Kurdistan Region concluded his statement by saying, "I reassure the Kurdistan Women's Union and all feminist organizations and movements in Kurdistan that I will always be their support and supporter of ensuring women's rights."
