Kurdistan's persistence disrupts oil exports.. Iraq's losses are worsening, and the Barzani family is enjoying
- Today 19:54
Information / private..
Iraq's loss is worsening day after day as a result of the disruption of the export of its oil from the region via Turkey, in addition to the violations of the Kurdistan government in terms of illegal smuggling and the seizure of revenues over the previous years, as well as the suspicious contracts of extraction companies that left the sites after the decision of the Federal Supreme Court, which is decisive and binding on all parties. .

*Persist on decisions
Speaking about this file, a member of the House of Representatives, Thaer Makhif, attributes the obstruction of the resumption of the export of oil to the Kurdistan region to his government’s persistence in the law and the constitution, while he stressed that the procedures and decisions issued by the central government will bind the region to all laws.
In an interview with the Maalouma Agency, Makhif said, “The Federal Court, with its decisions, charted the correct path to end violations of the region’s oil exports,” noting that “the next resumption of oil exports will be different from what it was before the Federal Supreme Court’s decision.”
He continues, "One of the reasons for the obstruction is working to end the violations and violations that the region committed in the previous period and the regional government's persistence in adhering to the law and the constitution."
He adds, "The practices followed by the Kurdistan government require reconsideration of many files shared with the central government," noting that "the procedures and decisions that the central government continues to issue will bind the region to all laws."
*The Kirkuk dilemma
For its part, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Party, on Wednesday, attributed the continued non-export of oil from the Kurdistan region to the escalating disputes over Kirkuk Governorate, while stressing that the transfer of the outstanding issues and the failure to find solutions to them in Kurdistan is one of the main reasons.
A member of the National Union, Talib Newroz, said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “Continuing to disrupt the export of oil, the biggest loser will be the Iraqi people,” noting that “so far, the meetings have not been able to formulate solutions to end the export crisis.”
He continues, "Most of Kirkuk's disputes occur as a result of the control of a certain group over the governorate and the lack of a clear partnership to manage the files there," adding that "the culture of transferring outstanding files and not finding solutions to them in Kurdistan is one of the main reasons that hinders the export of oil."
*The power of the ruling families
On a related level, former member of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, Ghaleb Muhammad, confirms that the Kurdistan region continues to violate oil exports until now, while he confirmed that the Kurdistan government has not handed over the revenues of more than one and a half billion barrels of oil to the central government in Baghdad.
Muhammad said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The biggest winners from these violations are the ruling families because the Kurdistan government did not deliver the revenues to Baghdad and does not give salaries to employees in the region,” noting that “60% of the oil revenues go to a group Secondary oil companies belonging to the two ruling parties.”
He continues, "The main companies responsible for oil extraction and export operations take 14% of oil revenues," adding that "Turkish companies that receive oil from the region admitted that they earn $24 from the value of one barrel if the world price is $80 per barrel."
The member of the House of Representatives added: “Most of Kurdistan’s export funds go to the regional government and the companies that cooperate with it, amid a great loss to Iraq,” noting that “Kurdistan did not deliver revenues of more than one and a half billion barrels of oil to the central government.”
The violations of the Kurdistan government continue in many files, through the use of power to exploit the state resources of the ruling party and the Barzani family, amid complete control over a group of oil fields inside and outside the borders of Kurdistan, through the seizure of oil revenues, border crossings, and annual taxes that it collects from companies and investors.
