Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Waad Al-Qaddo, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the project to install cameras will take place in 3 stages, while noting that the cameras have the ability to identify wanted persons through their facial fingerprint.
Al-Qaddo said in a press interview followed by Al-Eqtisad News, “Surveillance cameras are a global security field that has begun to develop due to the benefits it achieves related to monitoring and tracking, leading to making urgent decisions regarding some situations, in addition to documenting many cases through which one can determine identity.” perpetrators immediately.
He added, "Iraq has actually begun a project to install cameras, whether in Baghdad or the rest of the provinces, and they are of global origins comparable to 3 important countries, most notably France, in addition to having 4 advantages, the most prominent of which is the ability to identify wanted persons through a facial fingerprint, which is a scope that will be a qualitative leap in performance." ".
Al-Qaddo pointed out, "The project is continuing both in Baghdad and the rest of the governorates, and it depends on a map distributed by the technical committees, but in all cases the main intersections and streets will be the first stage and will be linked to direct operations rooms."
On December 11, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed that all areas of Baghdad be covered with smart cameras, specifically the pivotal areas, during a tour of the capital.
The Ministry of Interior had called on citizens and shop owners to install surveillance cameras to protect their areas and property, as well as to assist security services in maintaining security and tracking criminals, and in reaching criminals, thieves and outlaws.
