Member of the Security and Defense Committee, Karim Aliwi, revealed today, Sunday, that there is parliamentary and governmental consensus on the necessity of scheduling the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq.

Aliwi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “There is agreement between the government and the political forces in Parliament to activate the schedule for the withdrawal of all foreign forces, especially the American ones.”
He added, "The Security and Defense Committee will call on members of Parliament to work on issuing a second resolution obligating the government to remove American and foreign forces from the country."
He pointed out, "The Security and Defense Committee has set basic goals for its work for the next legislative term, first and foremost the demand to hold a special session to discuss the American presence, whose presence has begun to threaten national sovereignty."
In recent days, the resistance factions have bombed American bases in Iraq and Syria at an increasing rate.
The American combat forces present in Iraqi territory continue to violate sovereignty and carry out repeated attacks, amid the lack of support from the political blocs demanding the implementation of the decision voted on by the previous House of Representatives to remove all American forces.
