    The Iraqi General Authority of Customs issued new instructions regarding the import of foodstuffs, in line with Resolution of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers No. 23571 of 2023.

    The new instructions include the following:
    Banning the import of all types of cake (stuffed and non-stuffed)
     Preventing the import of all types of pies, including (local pies with cheese, chicken, Nestle, butter, vegetables, fruits, fish, or chocolate)
    Preventing the import of all types of non-local croissants stuffed with Nestle, Nutella, butter or cheese
    Preventing the import of all types of brown vor, kolija and all fillings
    Banning the import of all types of pizza and samosas stuffed with vegetables, meat and cheese
    The following are allowed to be entered:
        All kinds of bread, samun and bread 
        Cornflakes 
        Raw materials for making pastries (dough), such as burek dough, samosas, and baklava
        Types of snacks and wafers, as they are sweets 
        Types of biscuits, crackers and cakes 
      These foodstuffs are allowed to be brought in after paying the prescribed customs duties.  
      The Iraqi General Authority of Customs commented on these new instructions, saying:  
    “These instructions come in the context of the Authority’s keenness to protect the Iraqi market from food products that may not conform to Iraqi specifications and standards.”
    The authority added that these instructions also aim to support local Iraqi food products and strengthen the national industry.
      These new instructions are part of a comprehensive plan aimed at organizing the process of importing foodstuffs into Iraq and ensuring the quality and safety of these materials.
