Parliamentary Integrity prepares to interrogate the Minister of Immigration

Baghdad: Muhannad Abdel Wahab,
the Parliamentary Integrity Committee begins the procedures for interrogating the Minister of Immigration and Displacement due to suspicions of corruption in the files of the food and health basket and heating and cooking oil during the coming days.
A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Vian Dakhil, told “Al-Sabah”: “Given the presence of many corruption files in the Ministry of Immigration and Displacement, the committee worked to study them and collect a number of signatures to question the Minister of Immigration,” noting that “the legislative recess and the procedures for electing the Speaker of Parliament prevented However, the committee is continuing the interrogation process.”
She explained that “all the amounts donated by international civil society organizations go into the pockets of the corrupt,” noting that “the Ministry of Immigration distributes white oil among people for packaging and cooking, and the grade of oil according to chemical analysis is supposed to be 2000 units, while it reaches 3700 units.” This poses a danger to the displaced people who live in tents that are made of nylon and are close together and could cause humanitarian disasters.”
Dakhil pointed out that “the request that was submitted to the Ministry of Immigration to change the quality of white oil was that it was not of good quality, and the Ministry of Oil’s response was (this is currently available), which is an unacceptable method from the Ministry with the displaced, in addition to not changing the tents for 10 years, as "You have to change it from time to time."
She explained that “the food and health baskets have expired and are not fit for human use,” stressing that “the files are ready and other files will be added to them, including oil, kerosene, and health and food files.” On the other hand, the Ministry of Immigration distributed (200) shares of durable goods among returning families yesterday, Saturday. To newly inhabited areas in Sinjar within Nineveh Governorate, in implementation of the ministry’s government program, the aid included - according to a statement by the ministry - 14-foot refrigerators, cookers, ovens, and plasma screens.
