Today, Monday, the Federal Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a judgment in the presence of a former employee of the Agricultural Bank - Fallujah branch, who was recovered from the Turkish authorities. As a result of him committing the crime of harming the funds of the entity where he worked.
The Authority’s Government Media and Communications Office stated in a statement received by “Al-Ma’louma” that “the Rusafa Criminal Court, which is competent to consider integrity cases, issued a judgment in the presence of an employee who worked as an accountant in the Agricultural Bank - Fallujah Branch,” noting that “the ruling came Confirming the ruling in absentia issued against him as a result of his harming public funds.”
He added, "The Anbar Criminal Court, which is competent to consider integrity cases, had issued a ruling against the recovered convict in absentia in another case, also ruling him imprisonment for seven years."
He added, “The details of the case indicate that the convict purchased two transfers: the first amounted to (7,172,539,000) seven billion one hundred and seventy-two million dinars, while the second transfer amounted to (4,774,971,000) four billion seven hundred and seventy-four million dinars, noting that the convict violated the organization of payment notices.” Transfers of the value of bonds issued to customers in exchange for loans granted to farmers.”
He explained, “The court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case represented by the testimony of the legal representative of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank, the administrative investigation, and the minutes of the investigative committee in the Ministry of Finance/Inspector General’s Office, found it sufficient and convincing to convict the accused, so it decided to sentence him in his presence to imprisonment for a period of (7) years.” This is based on the provisions of Article (340) of the Iraqi Penal Code.”
The Commission had announced in late December of last year that its efforts had been crowned with the recovery of one of the fugitives from the Turkish authorities, stating that the recovered person was convicted of intentionally damaging the funds of the entity where he worked (an accountant in the Agricultural Bank - Fallujah Branch) in an amount of approximately (20) billion Iraqi dinars.
