Parliamentary work: We seek to approve the trade union law

During this semester, the Labor and Civil Society Committee seeks to approve the Trade Union Law to complement the Labor Law, which takes care of the segment of workers who are an oppressed group in society.
A member of the Labor Committee, Jassim Al-Moussawi, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The Labor Committee discussed some time ago the draft of the trade union law in the presence of the International Labor Organization and the unions, which is among the powers of the Labor Committee, and perhaps during the current legislative term it will be placed on the agenda to be presented for reading.”
He added, "The Trade Union Law is an important law as it complements the Retirement and Security Law, especially since it concerns the segment of the worker, which has an impact on the economic situation, especially since we are suffering from turmoil in the economic situation."
He continued, "The trade union law suffers from faltering as it was drawn up at a previous stage, and the development taking place in the status of trade unions is not compatible with this law. How can we guarantee their support for trade unions through solidarity and guaranteeing their rights? This is what the committee seeks to achieve through drafting this law, calling for the necessity of empowering this segment and its representatives in Her work, demanding her rights, and including the rights of the worker, especially since he suffers from injustice in circumstances where there is no comprehensive law that protects his rights.”
Regarding the committee’s supervisory role, Al-Moussawi said: “We are continuing our supervisory role. There was a meeting with the advanced staff of the Ministry of Labor and we discussed many important matters in the protection network, what are the expected errors in this network, how they can be addressed, and what are the causes that lead to corruption. All the oversight committees were distributed among All aspects of the ministry.
