An informed source revealed, on Monday, a move to open banks affiliated with the federal government, in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, in preparation for the localization of the salaries of Kurdish employees.[/size]
[size=45]The source told the agency, “Intensive meetings are taking place to hold discussions between officials from Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region, in addition to technical and logistical preparations for the opening of federal bank branches in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.”[/size]
[size=45]The source added, “The opening of these banks comes to localize the salaries of Kurdistan employees, in addition to practicing its comprehensive banking business in the region.”[/size]
[size=45]The former Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Fadel Nabi, had urged, earlier today, the Kurdistan Region, to move quickly to agree with Baghdad on a mechanism for sending the salaries of the region’s employees so that they are not deprived of them again, while stressing the need for the region to deal with the reality imposed after the decisions Federal Court.[/size]
[size=45]On Wednesday, 2/21/2024, the Federal Supreme Court, the highest judicial authority in Iraq, decided to oblige Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, Prime Minister of the Federal Council, and Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, to localize the salaries of employees and workers in the public sector with federal banks.[/size]
