The Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, today, Wednesday, called on the Federal Ministry of Finance to send the entitlements of salary recipients in the region in full and without discrimination.
A statement from his office received by Mawazine stated, “Today, Wednesday, the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers, headed by Masrour Barzani, held its regular weekly meeting and discussed a number of important issues on the agenda.”
The Minister of Finance and Economy, Awat Sheikh Janab, reviewed “the recent steps and measures taken by the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the relevant ministries and authorities in the regional government regarding the entitlements of salary recipients, in light of the latest developments and developments.”
He pointed out that "his ministry requested that the salaries of salary recipients in the region be funded in full and without discrimination by the Ministry of Finance of the Federal Government for the month of February in the amount of (949,813,146,170) billion dinars, but the Federal Ministry of Finance only funded 560 billion and 219 million dinars, which represents (59%) ) of the region’s total salaries, which led to the creation of a deficit in disbursing the region’s salaries for the month of February.
Sheikh Janab explained, “The Kurdistan region, within the framework of the (My Bank Account) project, began the resettlement process some time ago under the supervision of the Central Bank of Iraq.”
The Council of Ministers praised “the measures taken by the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the negotiating delegation in the budget file,” reiterating “the emphasis that the measures taken by the Federal Ministry of Finance must not deprive salary recipients in the region of their salaries, which are their financial entitlements, and they must be treated similarly to their peers in the region.” The rest of Iraq.”
He stressed "the necessity of disbursing the salaries of all salary recipients in the region without exception, and not depriving them of their financial rights and entitlements," adding that "these rights are guaranteed constitutionally and legally, and may not be linked to any disputes between the two governments, and work must be done to remove all obstacles and impediments that prevent financing." The Council of Ministers affirmed that it “has no objection to relying on the (My Bank Account) project, which is an important and advanced banking project for the purpose of localizing salaries, with lower costs and more and better services, and is subject to the supervision and approval of the Central Bank of Iraq, as it will allow salary recipients to receive their salaries through the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan region and through Through (My Bank Account), in addition to benefiting from many banking services, such as paying money and even obtaining loan facilities, the process is ongoing and it is scheduled that all salary recipients in the region will have their bank accounts by the end of the year, especially since the banks participating in the (My Bank Account) project ) approved by the Central Bank of Iraq, in line with the (localization) process applied in the rest of Iraq.”
The Council of Ministers concluded its statement: “Just as salary recipients in the rest of Iraq have the freedom to choose and determine the banks in which they wish to deposit their salaries, by the same mechanism, salary recipients in the region should also have the choice to open their accounts in any bank they wish within the framework of the (My Bank Account) project. ) in which five banks are participating so far, and other banks will join the project to be part of it soon.
