On Sunday, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Assadi announced the launch of a major campaign to register beneficiaries of social protection with health insurance.
The ministry said in a statement, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “Minister of Labor Ahmed Al-Asadi held a meeting with the staff and employees of the Social Protection Department.”
Al-Asadi confirmed that "the first phase witnessed the registration of 183 beneficiaries of social protection with health insurance through 29 registration outlets in Baghdad, including six outlets in the social protection departments."
He added, "The second phase included registering 200,000 beneficiaries, bringing the total number of those registered with health insurance to 383,000 beneficiaries," noting that "the health departments have begun registering social protection beneficiaries in Baghdad with health insurance, and then the move will be made to the rest of the governorates, according to the directives of the Prime Minister." .
The Minister stated that “registration with health insurance is free and without paying any fees, and the Ministry of Health will create a free health book for every beneficiary,” pointing out that “reviews to health centers and hospitals include performing all medical examinations, surgical operations, and hospitalization in private wards for free.”
