An Airbus A330 aircraft arrived in Tehran on Saturday, the third of 200 Western-made passenger planes ordered by Iran Air after lifting sanctions on Iran last year.
IRNA said the A330-200 landed at Mehrabad airport for Iran Air, which is seeking to renew its aging fleet.
The aircraft joins two other Airbus planes that were handed over to Iran earlier this year, one of the A330s and the second, a smaller, A-321.
Airbus was not immediately available for comment.
The success of Iran's President Hassan Rowhani has led to an end to international sanctions through an agreement with major powers to increase tensions ahead of May presidential elections with governors who criticized the deal for not receiving tangible economic benefits since sanctions were lifted.
Iran has asked 100 aircraft from European aircraft maker Airbus and 80 Boeing and is in talks to finalize a deal to buy 20 turboprop aircraft from ATR jointly owned by Airbus and Italian Leonardo Venmeccanica.
Iran has not directly bought any aircraft made in the West for nearly 40 years, with the exception of an Airbus jet to replace another that was dropped by the US Navy in 1988.
The rest of the orders remain uncertain as banks are reluctant to deal with Iran for fear of a return to international sanctions or fear of US-imposed sanctions if they consider them to break sanctions still in place.
