    AGHDAD (Reuters) -

    , It announced the Afghan presidency, on Monday, the resignation of the Minister of Defense and Chief of Staff, after an attack by Taliban militants killed more than 130 people dead in the north of the country, a military base.

    The presidential office said in a statement followed the "Journal News", that "Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, before this morning, the resignation of Defense Minister Abdullah Habibi, and Army Chief of Staff before the Shah Hahim."

    These resignations come against the backdrop of the massacre that took place last Friday, in Mazar-e-Sharif, the largest city in northern Afghanistan, which claimed the lives of 130 people.

    President Karzai's office Ashraf Abdel Ghani said on Monday before the resignation of the defense minister and army chief of staff after more than 140 soldiers were killed in an attack by the Taliban on a military base last week.

    According to a tweet the presidential palace through his account in Twitter "resigned Defense Minister Abdullah Habibi and Army Chief of Staff presented Shah Hahim with immediate effect."

    Said Shah Hussain Mortazavi, acting spokesman Abdul Ghani, said the resignation of officials came because of the attack on Friday in the northern city Mazar-i-Sharif.

    The city on Saturday, an official said the attack killed at least 140 soldiers and wounding many others. Other officials said the death toll may be higher. Finished / 25
