Defense Minister Irfan Hayali called on his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Amir Hatami to visit Iraq.
"Defense Minister Major General Irfan al-Hayali discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Brigadier General Amir Hatemi, the latest regional and international developments, stressing that cooperation and efforts are being made to eliminate the terrorists in full," the statement said.
Al-Hayali congratulated Brigadier Hatemi on his role as Iran's defense minister, expressing the hope that defense cooperation between the two countries would be strengthened during his term in office.
Al-Hayali said that the Iraqi army's victory over the terrorists is a victory for all the peoples of the region. He pointed out that these terrorist groups have destabilized the region and hoped to root out all these terrorists in the near future.
He noted that Iraq will not forget Iran's abundant support in establishing security and stability in Iraq and the region.
Al-Hayali pointed to the march of 40 Imam Hussein (p), stressing the issuance of orders to focus all efforts to provide security to visitors in the best possible way.
In turn, the Iranian Defense Minister congratulated his Iraqi counterpart on the liberation of the Iraqi city of Al-Qaim and the recent field victories in Iraq, expressing his hope to establish security all over Iraq soon.
He pointed out that the work done by the people and the army in Iraq will be recorded in the history of the struggle in the region, saying, we declare our readiness to support the reconstruction of Iraq by taking advantage of all energies and possibilities available and the necessary conditions are available to cooperate in accordance with the understanding that occurred during your visit to Tehran.
