Parliament reads a law on the privileges and rights of its members

     Baghdad / Range

The House of Representatives on Monday voted on two bills and ended the reading of four bills during a session chaired by Salim al-Jubouri and attended by 174 deputies.
The session witnessed a reading of a proposed law on the protection of the teacher and the emphasis on punishing the aggressors of that segment, as well as postponement of voting on the wording of a resolution on compensation for the victims of the earthquake that struck Iraq last week.
The session began with the welcome of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim Jubouri, the decision of the Federal Court, which challenged the constitutionality of the referendum in the Kurdistan region, directed by the parliamentary committee to follow up the members of the Council participating in the referendum and submitted a report to the presidency of the Council.
The Council of Representatives completed the first reading of the proposed law of the House of Representatives and its formations submitted by the Legal and Financial Committees in order to clarify the constitutional and legal status of the President and members of the House of Representatives and their rights and the relationship between him and the other authorities and establish a general secretariat with its directorates and other formations. For senior positions and staff recruitment mechanism.
In turn, confirmed parliamentary bloc of virtue (the law of the House of Representatives) contains rights and privileges are not justified and represent a retreat from calls to reduce the gap and the difference between senior officials and other staff.
The head of the bloc MP Ammar Tohma, in a statement received (range) a copy of it, "The most prominent points that we object to inclusion and reject, is the article that gave the Presidency of the Parliament to issue instructions specifying the rights of the President of the Council and his deputies and members of the Council," adding that " "This is a violation of the principle of transparency with the people, with the need to reduce the rights and privileges to the level that eliminates the inequitable differences with the rest of the state employees."
Ammar Tohma said that "the proposal of the law of the Director of the Office of the Speaker of the Parliament, the rank of Undersecretary of the Minister and Director of the Office of the First Deputy and the second degree of Director General, privileges are very exaggerated," he added, "Is it possible to be a commander in the army or a police chief of the rank of Director General and Director Office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament with the rank of Director General? "
The head of the Virtue bloc that "the law gave the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives the degree of Minister and Deputy Secretary-General degree of Undersecretary of the Minister and in this exaggeration clear does not deserve recognition."
"The law did not focus on reducing concessions, especially with the growing demands and calls to rationalize spending and reduce the unjustified atmosphere of privileges," MP Ammar Tohme said.
