    (International: Al Furat News) The final statement of the Islamic summit held in Istanbul on Wednesday condemned US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, saying it was "null and void".
    "The US decision on Jerusalem is a declaration of Washington's withdrawal from its role as a sponsor of peace in the Middle East," the statement said. 
    "We declare East Jerusalem the capital of the state of Palestine and call on states to recognize the state of Palestine and occupied East Jerusalem as its capital," the leaders said in a statement. 
    Trump's decision "constitutes a deliberate undermining of all efforts to achieve peace, is in the interest of extremism and terrorism, and threatens international peace and security," the statement said. 
    The leaders considered this decision to encourage Israel, the occupying Power, to continue the policy of colonization, settlement, apartheid and ethnic cleansing practiced in the land of the State of Palestine occupied in 1967 and in its heart the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

    He called on the countries of the world to support the efforts of the State of Palestine to join international organizations and to support the efforts of the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations.
