"As for the internal political issues and the elections in Iraq, we support the choice of the Iraqi people and their election as part of the process of supporting democracy in the region," Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, told a news briefing.
"Iraq has been exposed to various plots in recent times so as to be able to find an appropriate organization such as popular mobilization in a legal manner in order to address these conspiracies and achieved a lot of successes in this area," he said.
