Kuwait seeks to transfer Iraqi compensation to projects and investments

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid on Thursday, continued meetings between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi sides on the issue of settlement of compensation, pointing out that the search is underway in the collection of these compensation or transfer of projects and investments.
"The meetings between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi sides on the issue of compensation settlement are still ongoing," Al-Khalid said in a statement to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai.
Al-Khalid added that "these meetings are looking at the possibility of collecting these compensation or transfer of joint projects and investments between the two countries."
According to the newspaper, there are frequent reports about the possibility of announcing Kuwait during the International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq, scheduled to be held between February 12 and 14, on the settlement of Kuwaiti compensation assessed on the Republic of Iraq, by converting them to investment projects.
