    Baghdad - Mawazine News
The United States decided to extend the exemption of Iraq from sanctions related to the import of gas and electricity from Iran for a period of 30 days.
A US State Department official confirmed that the United States renewed the exemption granted to Iraq to import Iranian electricity, but this time for a shorter period of time, adding that Washington would re-evaluate whether it would renew the exemption again if a "credible government" was formed in Iraq.

The US official said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo "granted this brief extension of the exemption, to allow time for the formation of a credible government," adding that the exemption "will expire on May 26."
Washington imposed strict sanctions on the Iranian energy sector in 2018, and threatened to punish countries dealing with Tehran in this field, but it granted Iraq a series of consecutive temporary exemptions, which started with 45 days, then expanded to ninety and 120 days. Iraq relies on neighboring Iran to supply about a third of its electricity.
    is over

    Economy News _ Baghdad
A US State Department official told Reuters that the United States renewed an exception allowing Iraq to import electricity from Iran, but for a shorter period this time.
The official added that Washington would reassess the possibility of renewing the exception again once a "credible government" was formed in Iraq.
"The secretary of state gave this short extension of the exception to allow time for the formation of a credible government," said the official, referring to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
He indicated that this exception would expire on May 26. Exceptions were previously granted for a period of three months.

Lol They've got until the 9th, after that Saleh constitutionally assumes the position of Prime Minister and dissolves Parliament.

Observing the Protests since Oct 1 last year, I doubt the people grant Sadr  and the rest of those Iranian boot lickers the authority since they were responsible for the groups that killed many protestors, most of them hailing from Basra. The people reject Iran. Would these political animals risk having the vote? I doubt it.

I would be most shocked if these tools didn't approve the gov this time even if they take until the 9th to do it, after all they never met a deadline they didn't like.
