, MP Dylan Ghafour, from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, revealed, on Tuesday, the remaining contentious articles in the Federal Court law.
Ghafour said, "There are some disagreements about articles in the Federal Court bill."
She added, "The differences revolve around the mechanism for forming the Federal Court, the mechanism for selecting candidates and voting within the Federal Court, the number of members of the Federal Court, the number of judges and the jurisprudence, and the mechanism for their distribution among the components of the Iraqi people."
And she continued: "Also there are some disagreements about the number of Sharia jurists and legal experts in the Federal Court: Will they have the right to vote or not ?, Who nominates members of the Federal Court? What is the formula in which to run for the Federal Court? And the age and specifications of the members of the Federal Court?" Unanimously or by the majority? "
She indicated, "There are differences about Articles 2, 3 and 12 of the Federal Court bill, and that all components demand that they have a representative in the Federal Court," noting that "the heads of the parliamentary blocs have a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament to resolve these differences."
Ghafour stressed, "the need to accelerate the passage of the Federal Court law because Iraq is going through a constitutional vacuum and there is a need to legislate laws because the Federal Court is the one that approves the results of the upcoming elections, and the bill needs more than 219 members to vote in the House of Representatives to legislate it."
