Demand for international airlines to use Iraq's airspace

The Ministry of Transport revealed, on Wednesday, that international airlines are increasingly using the Iraqi air corridors, as they are the shortest route between East and West.
"The company continues its efforts to advance and upgrade Iraqi air navigation," the director of the General Air Navigation Company, Ali Mohsen Hashem, said in a statement seen by Al-Eqtisad News.
Hashim added, "There is an increasing demand by international airlines in using the Iraqi air corridors because they are the shortest route between East and West for the passage of their aircraft, especially that the coming period will witness more than one international event, such as the Dubai Expo and the World Cup."
