Today, Friday, the Ministry of Agriculture announced achieving food security by preventing the import of eggs and poultry.
Ministry spokesman Hamid Al-Nayef said in a press statement, "The import of eggs and broiler chickens has been prohibited for 3 years, with the aim of increasing local production and achieving self-sufficiency."
He added that "eggs and meat of local production are healthier than imported ones, which contributed to achieving food security in this aspect."
Al-Nayef continued, "The decision to ban imports is still in place to achieve self-sufficiency," referring to "the stability of eggs and poultry prices in the Iraqi markets."
