Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani chaired, on Thursday, a meeting devoted to discussing the acceleration of lag development projects.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed, "the need to move these projects forward and push them towards completion, in a way that guarantees the preservation of public funds."
He stressed, "The obstruction caused by the investigations that have been going on for years regarding lagging projects, or those marred by financial or administrative corruption, must be overcome, with the importance of preserving the state's interest and preserving public money at the same time."
He pointed out, "There are more than 1,600 lag development projects that have accumulated over ten years, and measures must be taken today regarding them, which are required by the public interest and the priority of providing services to citizens, with a commitment to integrity and ensuring that funds are not wasted or lost due to the aging and cessation of projects."
