    The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding, Rosemary DiCarlo, is scheduled to visit the Kurdistan Region.[/size]
    [size=45]The UN envoy to Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, said in a tweet on her Twitter account, "The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding, Rosemary DiCarlo, arrived today, Sunday, in the federal capital, Baghdad."[/size]
    [size=45]She added that "Rosemary's visit to Iraq will continue until the 24th of this month," noting that she will also "visit the Kurdistan Region, and meet with the leaders of the region, in addition to holding bilateral meetings with civil society organizations, women's and youth organizations."[/size]
    [size=45]Rosemary DiCarlo is the first woman to hold the post of Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs.[/size]
    [size=45]DiCarlo has more than 35 years of experience in public service and academia.[/size]
    [size=45]During the presidency of former US President Barack Obama, DiCarlo was Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, Samantha Power.[/size]
    [size=45]She has also served as Director of United Nations Affairs at the National Security Council in Washington, DC.[/size]
    [size=45]She has also served as chair of the National Committee on US Foreign Policy and a senior fellow at the prestigious Yale University's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs.[/size]
    [size=45]DiCarlo's assignments also included the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.[/size]
    [size=45]Born in Rhode Island, USA, Rosemary graduated from Brown University with a bachelor's degree, and from the same university she received her master's and doctoral degrees in comparative literature, literature, and Slavic languages.[/size]
