The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, called for the perpetrators of the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to be held accountable.
"We condemn the attempt to assassinate the Iraqi prime minister and demand that the perpetrators be held accountable," Guterres said in an official statement, which was followed by Mawazine News.
Guterres called on all Iraqis to exercise the utmost restraint and renounce all acts of violence and any attempts to destabilize Iraq, and urged all political actors to adhere to the constitutional system and resolve differences through peaceful and inclusive dialogue,
stressing that the United Nations continues to stand with the people and government of Iraq in their endeavor for a better future.” The
United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, "UNAMI", condemned today, Sunday, the attempt to assassinate the Prime Minister.
The mission said in a statement that it "condemns in the strongest terms the assassination of Prime Minister Mustafa Kazmi attempt", expressing satisfaction with the lack of injury to the Prime Minister because of the plane attack drone on his residence in Baghdad. "
She stressed:" We must not allow terrorism, violence and illegal acts to undermine stability Iraq and obstruction of its democratic process. Ended 29/87
