Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein sparked controversy in foreign circles today, Monday, after he made statements describing the Western mentality that governs the approach towards Syria as "wrong."
The Russian agency, Sputnik, according to what was translated by (Baghdad Today), said that Hussein's statements accused the Western world and the United States of having "made many mistakes" in its approach to the Syrian situation, stressing, "By following American and European policies towards Syria as well, we discover that they have committed many mistakes."
Hussein sparked controversy, according to the agency, after confirming by saying: "I do not see any clear policy here in Washington or in the entire process regarding the goals of the West in Syria, but what is certain is that Syria has been completely destroyed."
And the foreign minister stressed, "the need to include the Syrian government in the peace talks on Syria," according to his description.
As Hussein pointed out, "Western actions in Syria have led to the displacement of more than eight million Syrians outside the country, where they live as refugees, a large number of whom arrived in Iraq."
He pointed out that "in Kurdistan alone, there are nearly a quarter of a million Syrians who have fled the destruction caused by the United States and Europe in their country," as he put it.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein visited the US capital, Washington, a few days ago, at the head of a senior government delegation to discuss a number of files with the US government, most notably the exchange rate of the dollar and its impact on the Iraqi economy.
