The government launches a plan to review real estate and property of Christians

Observers and human rights activists considered the government's move to form a committee to review the real estate properties of Christians as a positive gesture and an explicit recognition of the continued abuses by influential parties against Christian citizens.
"The cabinet's decision to form a special committee to review the real estate properties of the Christian component is a bold and important decision," said Rebwar Rahman, spokesman for the New Generation Bloc, noting that "the importance of the decision lies in the seriousness of the Sudanese government in solving problems." The Christian component related to real estate and following up on the problems of other important and influential components of Iraqi society.
Rahman added, "Supporting the Christian component and preserving its property requires the government to monitor the work of the committee impartially, especially since many Christians throughout Iraq have serious problems with property and real estate, especially regarding their property stolen by some parties and armed groups," calling on "the government and the authorities Influential authorities to make room for the committee, and grant it all powers and facilities to reach a radical solution to the problem of the property of the Christian component and restore the rights to
owners.”
The deputy pointed out the need for "the fate of this committee not to be like the rest of the other committees that were formed to solve a specific problem and were unable neither to find a solution nor to come up with a result. Therefore, the existence of many committees has become mere ink on paper without significant achievement."
In turn, human rights expert Ali al-Bayati told "Al-Sabah": "Protecting the private property of the citizen is one of the first duties of the state through its institutions," noting that "repeatedly hearing about committees and procedures to protect the property of minorities is an acknowledgment of the existence and continuation of these abuses."
Al-Bayati stated that "many decisions were issued years ago by the Ministry of Justice, the Council of Ministers, or the judiciary, and perhaps some of them returned some property or stopped some abuses, but they did not eliminate the root of the problem," considering that the reason behind this "is the absence of deterrent measures to hold those responsible accountable." these crimes
and abuses.”
