Today, Thursday, the Directorate of Industrial Development of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced its achievements in the first half of this year, and while it indicated that 678 establishment licenses were granted for industrial projects, it confirmed the trend to develop the cement, metal, food, and petrochemical industries.
The Director General of the Directorate, Hussein Hassan Jawad, said in a statement that, “Under the direction of the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal, and according to the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani, the Directorate of Industrial Development worked to implement the government program for the first half of the current year,” noting that “the Directorate fulfilled all its obligations, as vacations were granted.” There are 678 licenses for industrial projects under establishment, and 33 licenses have been fully established within the government program planned for this directorate.
He added that “the directorate has now become its work in a qualitative and exceptional direction, not in a quantitative direction,” explaining that “the directorate has cooperated with the Iraqi private sector and Iraqi industrialists to adopt a qualitative national industry that leads to the country’s development in the right industrial direction, as emphasis has been placed on the types of these industries that the country needs.” Which is a fundamental pillar in the field of promoting industrial work, such as cement and petrochemical industries in Iraq, steel industries and metal industries, in addition to the food industries that Iraq was distinguished for, as the focus was on these strategic industries in order to develop the country and jump to a new stage.
He stressed that "the Directorate, in cooperation with industrialists and with the continuous directives of the Prime Minister and Minister, is proceeding in the right direction," pointing out that "the Directorate has made electronic payment according to the central directives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and now from 50 to 60 percent of transactions are completed by electronic payment."
