Today, Thursday, the Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, announced joint plans with the United Nations and the International Organization for Migration to develop population policies in Iraq.
Tamim said, on the sidelines of his participation in the sixth regional conference to review the Program of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development 10 years after the adoption of the 2013 Cairo Declaration, which is being organized at the United Nations House in Beirut, in response to a question about partnerships to develop population policies in Iraq and the role of technology in improving Population policies, and "Al-Iqtisad News" continued, "Iraq has entered into direct and effective plans with the United Nations Population Fund, the Organization for Migration, and ESCWA."
He added, “With regard to technology, we have worked on many platforms at the Iraqi level, including a platform for the return of migrant talent, as well as the Iraqi platform for sustainable development,” adding: “We use technology, but it is still an individual use, and we hope that there will be collective plans to develop this.” the field".
He continued, "There is a lot of talk about sustainable development and climate change, but without plans for it in the Arab countries," pointing out, "In Iraq and the Arab countries, we export raw materials for energy, but we have begun to have a reverse migration from the south to the north due to water scarcity, and we are trying to balance it." Develop plans to address these challenges.
