The Prime Minister calls on Norwegian companies to work in Iraq

Yesterday, Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani called on Norwegian companies to work in Iraq and benefit from the available investment opportunities, while pointing to commitment to the action plan of the International Conference on Financing for Development.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office stated that "Al-Sudani met in New York with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, on the sidelines of his participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly."
The meeting witnessed "discussion of bilateral relations between the two countries, and the importance of consolidating them by activating joint cooperation in various fields."
The Prime Minister appreciated "Norway's military participation within the NATO/NATO mission, and its contribution to supporting and training the Iraqi security forces in their war against terrorism."
He urged Norway to "restore resident diplomatic representation and open the Norwegian embassy in Baghdad in order to develop diplomatic relations between the two countries," calling on Norwegian companies to work in Iraq and benefit from the available investment opportunities.
During his participation in the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, which was held in New York, the Prime Minister delivered a speech in which he pointed to Iraq’s commitment to the action plan of the International Conference on Financing for Development, which was held in Addis Ababa/2015, and the international plan issued by it calling for the development of integrated national financing frameworks. To complement the national strategies for sustainable development, as well as Iraq’s welcome of the Summit’s adoption of the Political Declaration, which confirms the urgent need for serious work to accelerate the implementation of development goals. Al-Sudani affirmed the commitment to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, despite the complex challenges we face, welcoming “the Summit’s adoption of the Political Declaration, in which we affirmed “The need to work hard to accelerate the implementation of the sustainable development goals, especially in providing and mobilizing financial resources, in accordance with the Addis Ababa Action Programme.”
He pointed out that "Iraq faces challenges in financing the sustainable development goals, some of which are due to the financial losses it suffered in its war against the terrorist ISIS gangs, and Iraq gives priority to financing climate action, being the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change," noting that "Iraq has begun implementing contributions." Nationally determined, including investing in associated gas to produce clean energy to achieve the goal of “zero flare” by 2030.”
