    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani was absent from the memorial photo of the Cairo Peace Summit, which was held  today, Saturday (October 21, 2023), with the participation of more than 34 heads of state and government, foreign ministers, and international organizations regarding the events in Palestine and Gaza.
The final photo showed the absence of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani from the photo taken after the conclusion of the summit, in which Al-Sudani gave a speech that received praise and encouragement from various political forces and figures in Iraq, which was described as direct and expressive of the opinion of the Iraqi people and without “cautious” use of words.
Al-Sudani's absence from the commemorative photo appears to be "consistent" with his "hot" speech at the summit, at a time when some country leaders appeared "smiling" in the commemorative photo, which is not commensurate with the magnitude of the crisis that the Palestinians are experiencing in Gaza.

The most prominent thing in Al-Sudani’s speech at the summit was his saying that what is happening in Gaza is “a full-fledged war crime that began with the killing of defenseless people and the imposition of a stifling siege on what remained of the living.”
Al-Sudani stressed that “Gaza today constitutes a new test for the world order, which has failed several times in implementing the values of humanity, justice and freedom it calls for,” noting that “the time has come to put an end to this hateful occupation and stop the suffering of the Palestinian people.”
He pointed out that "injustice does not produce sustainable peace, and there is no way to achieve security and end violence except by removing its causes, most notably the occupation and policies of racial discrimination," indicating that "the Zionist entity continues to violate the laws, including the laws of war."
He explained that "this will affect international security and the spread of the conflict regionally, threaten energy supplies to global markets, multiply global economic crises, and open the door to deeper and broader conflicts," noting that "the occupation continues to violate the Third Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War, and the Fourth Convention that provides Protection of civilians in the occupied territories.
He pointed out that "the Zionist entity continues to violate the International Covenant on Civil Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and more than 78 Security Council resolutions related to the Palestinian issue," adding, "If international resolutions were respected and international bodies assumed their responsibilities, the Palestinian issue would not have reached these tragic conditions." ".
He stressed that "Iraq strongly rejects attempts to empty the Gaza Strip of its people," indicating that "there is no room to talk about resettlement, or creating refugee camps, and there is no place for the Palestinians except their land."
Al-Sudani stressed, “Above all, we point out the importance of stopping the dissolution of the Palestinian issue and trying to bury it, and that no one has the right to reconcile, compromise, or donate on behalf of the Palestinian people, as the Palestinians are the owners of the land and the issue.”
Al-Sudani stressed "the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, opening the border crossings and allowing the entry of humanitarian aid and relief materials, and then working to ensure a safe and comprehensive exchange of prisoners and detainees," indicating that "efforts must be made to completely lift the siege on the Gaza Strip to ensure that the tragedy is not repeated." ".
