The Prime Minister's Advisor for Transport Affairs, Nasser Saleh Al-Asadi, announced today, Sunday, the completion of the basic plan for the Baghdad Metro project, while indicating the preparation of a comprehensive plan to organize the transport sector in Iraq.
Al-Asadi said, "An integrated plan has been prepared that will start from the capital, Baghdad, to reorganize the transportation sector in Iraq, in addition to adding some new programs to the transportation sector, such as the metro."
He added, "The basic plan for the Baghdad Metro has been completed, and is currently in the negotiation stage with the project's special consultant to begin its design and implementation."
As for the rest of the transportation sectors, Al-Asadi explained, “There is a broad meeting that will be held with the Ministry of Transport, the General Traffic Directorate, and the Baghdad Municipality, to determine the new transportation lines and the actual need for the private transportation sector and public transportation in the city.”
