     The Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee confirmed today, Wednesday, that the Oil and Gas Law is still in the government’s drawers and has not reached it.
    Vice Chairman of the Committee Adnan Al-Jabri said, “The oil and gas law has not yet reached the House of Representatives and is still in the government’s drawers.”
    He added, “The government formed many committees to study and mature the draft law, but so far the law has not been matured and has not been sent to the House of Representatives.”
    He stated, “There are also intensive meetings by the Federal Ministry of Oil and the Ministry of Natural Resources in the region, as well as with the governors of the producing governorates for the purpose of coming up with an acceptable formula for this law and then it reaches the House of Representatives.”
    He continued, “According to the government’s program and the adoption of the parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, the law must be enacted during this session to solve many of the problems,” explaining by saying: “Especially since the problems are not only between the center and the region, but there are problems between the center and the producing governorates.” Oil and its dues, especially Basra Governorate, which must be proven by this law.”
    He pointed out, “The law will regulate the process of producing and managing oil and gas and also eliminate the negative consequences of oil and gas extractions.”

    Despite the Guru's presenting this issue as a hallmark heralding the revalue, rest assured it is not. We will move forward without it. Iraq will eventually benefit from this law internally, so do not concern yourselves with it. The Guru's all have the wrong focus.

    This is mainly an internal issue, having less to do with foreign investment, which is easily dealt with via separate PSA's contracts.
