The Minister of Immigration and Displacement, Ivan Faiq Jabro, announced on Thursday the closure of the Arbat camp in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, as the second camp to be closed in the Kurdistan region since the 2014 exodus, after the last batch of 170 displaced people were returned to their areas in Salah al-Din Governorate.
According to a statement seen by Al-Iqtisad News, Jabro extended its “thanks to the local government in Sulaymaniyah Governorate for its great cooperation in implementing the federal government’s plan to facilitate the return of the displaced to their homes and close the camps, after the distinguished efforts made by the government in the areas of return to provide livelihood.” “The generous provision for returning families and including them in income-generating projects,” calling on local governments in Erbil and Dohuk to “follow the example of Sulaymaniyah in facilitating the return of the displaced to their areas in accordance with the government’s plan.”
