Expert: The parliamentary elections will witness broader local participation

a political expert, expected that the participation rate in the parliamentary elections would be wider than the local elections, given that the citizen’s view of them differs from the local elections because they are more important, noting that holding the local elections in itself is a success, even if the participation rate is weak, especially in Kirkuk Governorate.
Political analyst Osama Al-Saeedi told Al-Sabah: The participation rate in the local elections is a normal rate in light of many matters, data and previous accumulations, and it is logical, but will the percentage be higher in the Houses of Representatives? He expects that the participation rate in the parliamentary elections will be higher due to the importance of the elections. Considering that the citizen, according to his view, is more important because the government emerges from it and the three presidencies as well.
He pointed out that what is also related to the parties’ ability to mobilize more and present candidates at a higher level is also included in the calculations, warning that participation will be higher, but not by a large difference and at a certain percentage. This is what we realized through the ability of the Commission and its media to attract the largest possible amount of young people. Those who have the right to vote.
Al-Saeedi stressed that if the Commission succeeds in opening centers to obtain the biometric card, it will also be an added element in increasing the participation rate, explaining that holding local elections is considered a relative success on the one hand, and on the other hand, it is a success that is counted for Kirkuk Governorate, as many years have passed and no elections were held there. .
He added that the Kirkuk Governorate elections represent a partial solution to what is called Article 140 and other issues, as the lists now have a kind of balance between traditional lists and new lists, albeit with a shy presence, but this expresses a stage and level of transformation, indicating that there will not be a major change, but A slight change according to the announced percentage will either be an increase in some lists or a slight change in the rise of other lists.
