Former US President Donald Trump criticized his rival Joe Biden for allowing Iraq to be exempted from importing energy from Iran, which would allow it to obtain 10 billion US dollars, considering that “America should have controlled Iraqi oil production after the invasion in 2003.”

Trump criticized President Joe Biden's policies towards Iran and accused him of enriching the United States' opponent by paying the costs of releasing American hostages and canceling sanctions, in an interview with the American Fox News.

Trump claimed that he convinced China and several other countries to stop buying Iranian oil during his administration, stating that "Iran is bankrupt, they had no money, there was no money for Hamas or Hezbollah, there was no money for anyone."

The former president particularly criticized the Go administration's move to extend a sanctions waiver last November that gave Iran access to nearly $10 billion from Iraq in exchange for purchasing electricity.
He said: "They are getting $10 billion in exchange for supplying some electricity to Iraq, which, by the way, belongs to them," noting that "the United States should have controlled Iraqi oil production when it invaded the country in 2003."

“If you're going to do this, keep the oil, remember, keep the oil,” Donald Trump told the hosts at the town hall.
He added: "They did not keep the oil...and we have nothing. We have nothing. They used to say about wars, the victor gets the spoils. We go somewhere, wipe it out and then leave it. We are run by fools. We are run by stupid people."
