An informed source reported on Monday that Iraqi government officials had made contacts to discourage the United States of America from carrying out retaliatory attacks inside Iraqi territory after targeting American forces in Jordan.[/size]
[size=45]The source informed: “Iraqi officials are making various contacts with the American side to prevent Washington from any military response inside Iraq against the armed factions after the killing and wounding of a number of American soldiers in the bombing of Jordan.”[/size]
[size=45]The source added: “These attempts come to prevent any escalation and security tension inside Iraq during the next stage because of its significant and dangerous effects on the overall situation.”[/size]
[size=45]US President Joe Biden vowed to respond to the killing of American soldiers in the attack claimed by Iraqi factions.[/size]
[size=45]Circles of the Republican Party also launched an attack on Biden, because of his policies towards Iran, and accused him of being complacent in confronting the militias supported by Tehran.[/size]
[size=45]The Pentagon announced that the number of Americans wounded in the attack on the military “Site 22” in Jordan had risen to 34.[/size]
[size=45]A Pentagon statement said that 8 American soldiers were transferred to a military hospital outside Jordan to receive treatment.[/size]
[size=45]The statement indicated that “Site-22” military site, located in northeastern Jordan, includes 350 American soldiers, as part of army and air force forces, as part of a mission to combat ISIS.[/size]
[size=45]For its part, Jordan condemned the terrorist attack that targeted an advanced site on the border with Syria.[/size]
[size=45]The official government spokesman, Muhannad Mobaideen, reported that the attack did not lead to any casualties among the Jordanian Armed Forces.[/size]
[size=45]In this context, he stressed that his country will continue to confront the threat of terrorism and the smuggling of drugs and weapons across the Syrian border into Jordan, and will also firmly confront anyone who attempts to attack its security.[/size]
[size=45]Reuters quoted a Jordanian security source as saying that Amman asked Washington to send more support and defense equipment.[/size]
[size=45]Because of fears that Iran and the groups it supports will become involved in any broader conflict in the Middle East.[/size]
[size=45]The source added that Jordan recently stressed to the United States the urgent need to strengthen its defenses.[/size]
