Today, Friday (February 9, 2024), Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed his intention to continue supporting cultural projects and festivals, indicating that the Ministry provided sponsorship for the Marbid Festival.
A statement from Abdul Ghani’s office, received by “Baghdad Today,” stated, “The Ministry of Oil is working to develop its sectors of extraction, refineries, gas, and others, and this does not prevent the ministry from being a support to the rest of the ministries by contributing to sponsoring festivals that contribute to developing the country’s reality in all aspects. Therefore, supporting the festival The festival, in which a number of countries participated in addition to our authors and writers, comes as a commitment from the government and the ministry specifically.”
He added, "The Ministry is ready to work to sponsor and support any festival or gathering that raises the name of Iraq at the Arab and international levels."
For his part, Arif Al-Saadi, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Cultural Affairs, expressed in the same statement his “thanks to the Ministry of Oil and its Minister for providing support and sponsorship of this year’s Al-Mirabad Poetry Festival.”
Al-Saadi pointed out that "the Basra Gas Company and Basra Oil Company provided support for the festival after we communicated through the Prime Minister's Office, and Minister Al-Sawad's directives resulted in the support and success of this great festival."
