Oil: The cost of oil production in the Kurdistan Region is 3 times higher than our production cost

The Ministry of Oil confirmed that the cost of producing oil in the Kurdistan Region is three times more than the cost of producing oil in southern Iraq.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Oil, Asim Jihad, said that oil production in the Kurdistan Region is very expensive, up to 3 times the cost of oil production in southern Iraq, noting that the cost of transporting a barrel of oil from Kurdistan to Turkey is equal to the cost of producing a barrel of oil in the south.
He added that Iraq needs to amend the law on contracts with oil companies in the Kurdistan Region.
