(Reuters) - Apple will build its new Mac Pro in China, away from the US assembly line it used in recent years, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The plan was published on Friday, citing people familiar with the move whose identities were not disclosed.
Apple has issued a statement saying the new Mac Pro will be designed and engineered in California, but did not say where it will be assembled.
Apple Mac Pro has been gathering in Austin, Texas since 2013 as part of a $ 100 million commitment made by CEO Tim Cook in a national television interview.
The new Mac Pro, worth $ 6,000, will be assembled at a factory near Shanghai.
The company already manufactures the iPhone and most other hardware in China
