Federal Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi is scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden in the US capital, Washington, next Monday, while a strategic expert confirms that this visit will determine the future of the Iraqi-US relationship.
And the strategic expert, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharifi, during an interview with PUKmedia , today, Thursday, believes that Al-Kazemi’s visit this time will be a new round of strategic dialogue between the two countries, noting that this round differs entirely from its predecessors, given that the dialogues that preceded were consultative and a pulse for opinions. and views.
Dr. Al-Sharifi stressed that this tour will be a decision round, where you will meet the political decision-makers and take decisions that will form a starting line for a new path in the US-Iraqi relationship, adding that it will be decisive and fateful and outline the features of Iraq’s future in international and regional balances, and its international relations in general.
Al-Sharifi criticized the government’s failure to announce the tour’s program and agenda, saying, “As important as the visit and this tour were, we hoped that there would be clarity on the government program and that the paragraphs would be circulated clearly with an official statement from the Prime Minister so that Iraqi public opinion would stand on the details of the issue of the people directly concerned with it, Because this visit will determine the fate of the relationship between Baghdad and Washington."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government, through its Minister Fouad Hussein, confirmed that the fourth round of strategic dialogue between Iraq and the United States will be the last, indicating that the dialogue round will witness agreement on scheduling the American withdrawal.
Fouad Hussein confirmed in press statements that "the current US administration understands the situation in Iraq in a way that contradicts the previous administration," noting that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi's meeting with US President Joe Biden will discuss the overall Iraqi-American relations."
A member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee confirmed in a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency that "the visit of the Iraqi delegation to Washington comes to complete the strategic dialogue, and there are many outstanding issues between America and Iraq at all levels."
Committee member MP Kata Al-Rikabi said, "The Iraqi delegation will discuss scheduling the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq, which is the most important axes of the visit," noting that "Al-Kazemi's visit to Washington came at the invitation of President Joe Biden and has many implications in terms of interest in the issue of the withdrawal of US forces."
He added, "Al-Kazemi will discuss many files, including the bilateral relations between the two parties, in addition to the situation in Iraq and the Middle East, as well as the security, military and health file and the Corona pandemic."
It is noteworthy that the fourth round of the strategic dialogue will be chaired by the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, and the US delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken, and it comes as a prelude to the dialogue that will be led by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, on the Iraqi side, and on the American side, President Joe Biden, according to a statement.
